Severities
Heurio's 5-level severity system (Neutral, Low, Medium, High, Critical) categorizes and prioritizes every heurio so the team knows which website issues to fix first.
The 5 levels at a glance: Neutral (blue) · Low (green) · Medium (yellow) · High (orange) · Critical (red). Pick the level that matches the real impact on users.
Heurio includes a severity rating system that helps categorize and prioritize feedback placed on website elements. This guide explains the severity system and its use in Heurio's workflow.

#Severities
- Neutral (Blue): the default severity, used for basic opinions, note-taking, or conversation starters.
- Low (Green): indicates minor issues with minimal impact on the website's functionality or design.
- Medium (Yellow): denotes issues with moderate impact, requiring attention to avoid potential negative effects.
- High (Orange): highlights significant issues that can affect website performance or user experience substantially.
- Critical (Red): represents urgent, mission-critical problems that demand immediate resolution to prevent severe consequences.
#Why severity matters
Severity is the team's shared definition of "what should we fix first?" When every reviewer uses the same five-step scale, the same heurios show up at the top of Severity View, Project Analytics, and PDF reports — preventing the classic "every comment looks equally urgent" trap.
#Collaborating with the team
Team members can view the severity levels of each heurio, facilitating collaboration and ensuring that all feedback is addressed efficiently. Severities are also reflected in the Severity View and Project Analytics.
Frequently asked questions
- What are Heurio's severity levels?
- Neutral (Blue) for notes and conversation starters; Low (Green) for minor issues; Medium (Yellow) for moderate-impact issues; High (Orange) for significant issues affecting performance or UX; Critical (Red) for urgent, blocking problems.
- How do I change the severity of a heurio after creating it?
- In the extension, open the heurio and pick a new tag at the top of the popup. In the web app, drag the heurio card between severity columns in Severity View, or open the heurio and pick a level from the Severity dropdown.
- Should I always pick a non-Neutral severity?
- No. Neutral is the default for notes, open questions, and conversation starters that aren't issues. Use Low through Critical when you want to flag something that actually needs action.
- Does severity affect sorting and analytics?
- Yes. Severity View groups heurios by level, Project Analytics breaks down counts by severity, and PDF/CSV exports include the severity per row so stakeholders can prioritize fixes.
- Can I customize the severity labels or colors?
- Severity labels and colors are standardized so reviews stay consistent across projects and teammates. Use Custom Guidelines if you need to express domain-specific rule categories.
